We're gearing up a near-currency initiative (Freedompoints) that would enable people to earn reputations by doing good deeds for projects chosen by influential tribe leaders.

Such leaders at present offer ad hoc — rather than systematic ways — for followers to gain higher levels of visibility (through retweets, follow friday recommendations, etc.) in social networks.

We'll be exploring scenarios for launching the FreedomPoint system as part of the Cell Alert presentation at Netsquared next week in San Jose.

Actually, I think we should discard the “store of value” aspect of money to experiment the accelerator of exchanges through the “medium of exchange” and “unit of measure” aspects. Once you don't care about storing value, security becomes more or less a non-issue.
